RENE BOUVIERFranceThe family-run Domaine René Bouvier owns 30 hectares of vines, all in the Côte de Nuits. The estate, located in Gevrey-Chambertin, has been managed by Bernard Bouvier since 1992. Bernard Bouvier is both an artisan and entrepreneur: he is genuinely curious, hardworking, charismatic and ambitious. His dynamic personality comes through in his wines. But he is also a superb communicator and has been an exceptional ambassador for the Côte d’Or. Vines are 50 years old in average. Yields are extremely low and the domaine is run on organic principles. The brilliant, clear colour of this white wine is pale yellow tinged with green. The nose reveals typical fresh minty notes, mixed with white flowers (acacia), a delicate blend of depth and subtlety. The attack is full, with good viscosity. The terroir is rich in clay and marks the wines of the Clos with great minerality and a beautiful salinity. Truffle notes appear at the finish.

This red wine is a magnificent ruby colour, with an intensity that is sustained over time. The attack on the palate is elegant, ample and fleshy, with a beautiful balance. The excellent ripeness of the grapes evokes as a range of very ripe fruit (black fruits, and blueberries), combined with spicy notes (white pepper). A superb consistency, supported by mellow, rounded tannins, provides density and length for this wine.
